After a period of time, the rain sensor surface as well as the infrared sensor window will accumulate dirt.
Use a piece of soft cotton wool and (maybe soapy) water to clean these surfaces. Let them dry. Do not rub strongly, especially not on the rain sensor surface.

Take care not to scratch or leave fingerprints on the surface of the sensor.
