Seletek family — WiFi focuser controller

Limpet

WiFi & USB. Control from your smartphone.

End of Life — sold while stocks last

The Limpet is the compact member of the Seletek focuser family. Tiny enough to attach directly to your telescope with a single screw, it connects via WiFi or USB and lets you control your focuser from any browser — on your phone, tablet or computer.

What makes it different

Small enough to live on your telescope

The Limpet was designed to sit directly on the focuser, not in an equipment box. Everything about it — its shape, its connector, its power draw — serves that goal.

WiFi — your network or its own

Connects to your observatory WiFi network, or creates its own access point if you prefer a direct connection. No router required.

Control from any browser

Open the Limpet's web interface on your phone, tablet or laptop — no app to install. Navigate to its IP and you're in control.

70 × 70 × 26 mm

One central hole for a single mounting screw. Attach the Limpet directly to the telescope tube or focuser body — it stays put without a separate enclosure.

Weight <85 g

30 mA at idle

Extremely low power draw when idle over WiFi. Barely touches the battery, even in a fully remote setup running all night.

12V DC  ·  530 mA focusing (standard motor)

Screw-locking power jack

The 2.1×5.5 mm power connector locks with a screw. No accidental disconnections during a session — particularly useful when mounted on a moving telescope.

USB when WiFi isn't needed

All the same functions via USB cable. Use WiFi for remote setups and USB when at the telescope — ASCOM drivers cover both equally.

What it controls

Focuser, rotator — or both

The Limpet's four power outputs and three analog inputs give it a focused but versatile I/O set for telescope automation.

Focuser control

Drive the main telescope focuser directly. Precise stepper motor control with position tracking and limits.

Camera rotator

Can alternatively control an instrument rotator using the Windows software — swap functions without buying additional hardware.

Temperature sensing

Optional external temperature sensor (one of the three analog inputs) for temperature compensation of the focuser position.

4 power outputs

Up to 1.5A per output with thermal auto-shutdown protection. Two of the inputs include resettable fuse protection.

Software & drivers

Works with your automation setup

The Limpet is part of the Seletek software ecosystem. The same Windows application and third-party drivers cover the whole family.

Seletek software & ASCOM

The Seletek Windows application supports the Limpet natively. Full ASCOM focuser and rotator drivers included for use with any ASCOM-aware software.
